When was the last time that you took a beautiful hike and thought about those who might not be able to enjoy
it - specifically children who have cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, or other reasons why they could not be out and enjoying
strolls in nature?
While I have had these thoughts at times, even just of an older sister whose disability prevents being able to take part in
many activities, it was only recently that I started thinking of what to do. I realized that there must be a way to combine the
beauty and enjoyment of taking walks, hikes, other activies in nature and helping those who might not be able to do so due to
physical limitations - especially children.
Later, while talking to my friend Josh, the TrailsOfGiving.com concept was created.
The principal idea to promote events for people who are
nature enthusiasts both online and offline in which the money raised would be given to charities, research foundations, and groups
for children who could not in 'RL (real life)' participate, plus donate some back to the areas that hold the events with the aim
of promoting a sense of environmental sustainability.
The site is just now being developed and soon you will find listings of State/National Parks, Virtual
Explorations that allow you to give money, weekly-monthly-quarterly events in 'RL',
Volunteer opportunities, and more about the idea/design and where
the money will be gonig that is raised.
TrailsofGiving will not be a non-profit organization yet plans are to work towards having
50% of all donations going to chairites/research groups, 25% to the park where the vitural or 'RL' event is held, and 25% split slightly
differently between website upkeep and event planning based on donation coming from online or 'RL'.
